NEW DRUG REHABILITATION TREATMENT PRODUCING DRAMATIC RESULTS --Preliminary testing indicates 90%
effectiveness WHITTIER, CA -- A new drug rehabilitation therapy incorporating a controversial treatment called “Death Visualization” has produced impressive results in preliminary testing. Clinical psychologist Dr. Arnold Nerenberg has used the treatment on over 25 patients and reports that 90% have remained drug-free for a 30 post-treatment period. A longitudinal study to measure effectiveness over extended periods of time is currently underway. Nerenberg utilizes Death Visualization in his private practice and in conjunction with services he provides for the Los Angeles County Parole Board. The therapy incorporates the use of an actual coffin, and patients are prompted to visualize a loved one, or themselves, in the coffin. The profound visual impact of the coffin serves to inspire the patient to make behavioral changes while they still have the opportunity, and to appreciate the impact their behavior has on others. “This study is in its infancy, but early results are truly impressive,” says Nerenberg. “We are finding that drug abusers react strongly to the coffin, and that the process brings them to an emotional peak -- a realization -- that they’ve never before experienced.” Nerenberg has gained extensive national attention for the use of Death Visualization in treating troubled and out-of-control teenagers.
